Community Service


The Armory at CHS arranges opportunities to serve with local organizations as well as shuttles members to and from those locations. Members just need to show up and put in the volunteer time. Members can reach the minimum of 20 hours of community service to graduate and soar beyond that number to impress prospective colleges and universities.

The Armory at Carlsbad High School

Tutoring CHS students, as available or by appointment

-The Armory is seeking members who can tutor CHS students in exchange for community service hours. Tutors can make their own schedules, which would be available to interested students on The Armory's website.

Rancho Coastal Humane Society

Most early-release Mondays, 1:30-3:30 p.m.

-Volunteers perform simple chores around the complex for about 30 minutes before they have the opportunity to spend roughly 30 minutes with some of the animals in residence -- dogs, cats, or rabbits.

Agua Hedionda Lagoon Foundation

Dates and times vary

-Volunteers may have the opportunity to help this habitat preservation group with arts & crafts prep, animal care, marketing, computers & technology, the Discovery Center Docents, the Native Plant Garden, the Academy for Environmental Stewardship, trail maintenance, and more.

Carlsbad by the Sea Retirement Community

One Thursday per month, 3-5 p.m.

-Volunteers do simple crafts, play games, and interact with residents of this home for the elderly.

Boys & Girls Clubs of Carlsbad

Thursdays, 3-5 p.m.

- Volunteers assist staff members with program activities or tackle miscellaneous tasks around the Clubhouse.

- The Boys & Girls Clubs of Carlsbad Village Branch is also seeking volunteer homework helpers from The Armory to help elementary school students between 4:30 and 5:30 p.m. Contact staff for info.

- The Boys & Girls Clubs of Carlsbad Village Branch is also seeking volunteer referees from The Armory for their elementary school intramural sports leagues. Contact staff for info.
